Aberdeen blow as Pawlett out for season

Aberdeen forward Peter Pawlett has been ruled for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery. The 19 year old had been expected to be missing for only a month but his injury was worse than had been hoped.

Dons boss Mark McGhee said in the Press and Journal: "Peter has had surgery on his patellar tendon and it turns out there was more to it than they first thought.

"It is now looking like 12 weeks rather than four, which will take him up to the end of the season.

"It is a shame for him and for the club. Hopefully, the surgery has now cleared up some of the problems he was having.

"His focus is now on getting healthy for next season."
