Aberdeen are battling to keep hold of Irish international Alan Maybury.

The 29-year-old right-back joined the Dons on loan from Leicester in January and has since been released by the relegated Championship club.

And director of football Willie Miller confirmed that the club are closing in on a permanent deal for the former Hearts man.

"We're continuing to speak to Alan Maybury and we remain hopeful that he'll stay," said Miller.
