2009 MLS Champions Real Salt Lake picked up forward Abe Thompson from Houston Dynamo in Wednesday's Waiver Draft.
RSL were the only team, apart from expansion franchise Philadelphia Union, to add a player to its roster when they added Thompson as the only one of 11 Waiver players selected.
The 27-year old managed just one regular season appearance for the Dynamo as well as two in the CONCACAF Champions League after crossing from Kansas City at the start of last season.
Prior to that, Thompson made close to 70 appearances with FC Dallas after being a prolific goalscorer with the University of Maryland from 2000 to 2005.
