AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati says the players need to prove they deserve to stay in the remaining weeks of the season.

Milan are languishing in the bottom half of the Serie A table.

"Losing a player after one minute is difficult, and Napoli are a great team," Abbiati told MilanChannel.

"Every player has to prove that they deserve Milan, and to play in this shirt next season. The game my teammates played at Napoli gives me belief.

"We were a man down after 10 minutes, we showed great character to hold out until the 70th minute, then after the first goal we lost the heads a little bit."
