Aalborg's Beauchamp: Sending off was unbelievable

Aalborg's Aussie defender Michael Beauchamp was sent-off in his team's 0-0 draw at Champions League rivals Celtic last night. Beauchamp was sent off with 10 minutes to go for a 'last-man' foul on Georgios Samaras when it appeared that Michael Jakobsen was the culprit. Aalborg's Scottish manager Bruce Rioch said: "It appears to be the case of mistaken identity and straight away I thought it was the wrong player.

"There was some confusion among the officials and Michael is disappointed because he wasn't involved."

"I couldn't believe it. As soon as I heard my number getting called out I felt disbelief," admitted Beauchamp.

"To get it wrong with two men on the sideline and one in the middle is very disappointing. I was trying to plead my case and he kept saying, who was it?' I wasn't going to point the finger. It was up to him to make the right decision. It was very disappointing but it was a good night for the boys."

Beauchamp was delighted with his team's performance and hopes to carry on their positive start to Group E against Manchester United in two weeks.

"We've got no pressure on us in this group. Every match will be tough for us, but we are going out to prove we can play football. We played and defended well tonight. To get a point at Celtic Park is great for Danish football. I think Celtic missing the penalty lifted the boys. That's normal in football."
