A-League review - Finals Week 2

Week 2 of the A-League finals series has finished, knocking one team out and sending another through to the Grand Final. In Wellington, the Phoenix broke the hearts of the Newcastle Jets who scored first in their knockout semi-final but were overhauled and eventually lost 3-1.

A record crowd turned out to see Ricki Herbert's men progress to the next stage of the finals series whilst Matt Thompson's Jets' career ended in disappointment.

Following that match, the Melbourne Victory booked a spot in their third Grand Final in four seasons when they scored a late goal through Archie Thompson to record a 2-2 draw with Sydney FC but their first leg home win in Melbourne allowed them to set up a home final where they will play the winner of next week's Preliminary Final between the Sky Blues and the Phoenix.
