Rival A-League clubs are interested in Scott Chipperfield after North Queensland Fury gave up their pursuit of the Socceroo.

It is believed Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory are in the running for the services of the FC Basel defender after the Fury decided to end negotiations yesterday.

The 33-year old currently has a contract with the Swiss club but the fact he would be made a marquee player by one of the two teams keen on him might make his decision easier.
