5 Ligue 1 Players Your Premier League Club Should Sign

The Ligue 1 is widely known for being a massive talent hub with players like Dimitri Payet, N'Golo Kante and Samir Nasri amongst others enjoying a great deal of success in the Premier League after signing from French outfits.

We take a look at 5 Ligue 1 players your Premier League club can sign this summer transfer window:

Hatem Ben Arfa - Paris Saint Germain

Ben Arfa is a player that hasn't quite lived up to his tremendous ability. Once hailed as French football's 'next big thing', the Frenchman is now 30 and yet to truly leave his mark on the football world in a similar manner as Portugal's Ricardo Quaresma.

He unleashed his true ability in the 2015/16 season at Nice as he served as their catalyst scoring 17 goals and registering six assists en route to a 4th place finish.

He moved to PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2016, a transfer which has done nothing but impede his career having been restricted to just five Ligue 1 starts under Unai Emery last term.

Ben Arfa has now been deemed surplus to requirements at PSG, and with just one year left on his contract, he'd be available for a paltry fee.

Signing the 30-year-old would be a punt considering his track record, but it could be well worth it in the end as he boasts of a high level of skill.

He'd be a great fit for West Ham who are currently lacking a real catalyst, Leicester would also do well to take a look at Ben Arfa with Mahrez poised to move this summer.

Serge Aurier - Paris Saint Germain

Serge Aurier surprisingly sits alongside Ben Arfa on a small list of players PSG are keen on offloading this summer.

He's had his fair share of disciplinary issues in the past, but he's a great right-back capable of causing the opposition serious problems with his pace whilst also being adept at defending.

The 24-year-old was not included in PSG's pre-season tour of the USA with the Parisians set to move on from him following the acquisition of Dani Alves.

He's reportedly available for a fee in the region of £17.5m with his potential suitors being Manchester United and Tottenham.

United are looking to sign him as a rotation option at right-back, but with Kyle Walker off to Manchester City, Aurier would get lots of game time at Tottenham should they make a solid move for the Ivory Coast international.

Thomas Lemar - Monaco

From Caen to Monaco and now possibly a top Premier League side, Thomas Lemar has experienced rapid growth in his career and skill level over the last three years.

He played an instrumental role in Monaco's title run last season scoring nine goals and making ten assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances.

The 21-year-old has great feet, an eye for goal and the ability to change a game in an instant. It's these attributes that have attracted widespread interest from Europe, but in the Premier League, Arsenal appear to be his primary suitors.

The Gunners could lose Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City, and in a bid to ensure continuity in his role Lemar could come in and replace the Chilean.

Vincent Koziello - Nice

Vincent Koziello has emerged as one of the Ligue 1's brightest prospects. Plying his trade under Lucien Favre at Nice, the 21-year-old has garnered a reputation for his ability to control the pace of a game.

He's not quite ready for a leap to a big Premier League side, but he's certainly a player mid-table teams should have on their respective radars.

He made 27 appearances for Nice last season with eight of them coming from the bench. His game is not about goals as evidenced by the fact that he netted just once for Nice in the 2016/17 season.

Koziello would be a great addition to Southampton and a possible replacement for Oriol Romeu who is currently linked with a sensational return to his boyhood club Barcelona.

Ryad Boudebouz - Montpellier

Boudebouz proved to be one of the standout midfielders in the Ligue 1 last season as he managed to score 11 goals and register nine assists for his side Montpellier.

The 27-year-old raised his output from the 2015/16 season where he scored just two goals but made 11 assists.

He could introduce a new dynamic to pretty much any team looking to have a solid season as his silky style of play would add some attacking impetus to sides currently lacking, or looking to improve in that area.

Boudebouz has a reported £8m price tag which is affordable by modern day standards. A team like Newcastle should consider signing him in a bid to bolster their squad and boost their survival chances ahead of the new season.
