Eliaquim Mangala insists he is not overly bothered by his huge price tag.
Mangala joined Manchester City from Porto on a whopping £40milllion-plus deal from FC Porto last summer, which made him the most expensive defender in Premier League history. As a result, big things were naturally expected from the Frenchman.
However, Mangala did not even come close to justifying his huge price tag last term and was named as one of the worst rookies in the league by a national newspaper.
Despite the scathing assessment though, Mangala believes that he enjoyed a decent campaign and insisted that people are too hung up regarding the numbers associated with him.
"People focus on the price," said Mangala in an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe.
"I do not think it's a drag, but certainly in terms of the level of your performance, you are looked differently. I live very well with that.
"This has been a good season of adaptation, because it was a bit difficult physically the first three months. And whether you play against the first or last in the Premier League, it's the same intensity."
