40 points the target then we kick on - Fulham's Schwarzer

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer admits it is usually the goal of the West London club to reach safety before targeting a top-half finish.

The Cottagers currently sit 12th on the Premier League table with 30 points and the Australian gloveman insists once the survival target of 40 is reached then it is time to kick on and finish as high as possible.

"Before kick-off everyone knows where we are, everyone knows how many points we've got," he told BBC London's Inside Fulham podcast.

"You are obviously always watching and paying attention to the situation and we all know as time has gone by its proven that 40 points is generally what you need and we've always had that mindset that if we get 40 points as quickly as possible. Once we do that, we can then start to look forward up the table and that's what we've done every season since I've been at the club."
