£20m summer signing Ayew continues West Ham rehab

West Ham United have issued an update on the fitness of summer signing Andre Ayew.

The Ghanaian winger, who joined the club from Swansea City for £20m in the summer, injured his thigh in the opening game of the season against Chelsea.

Ayew is continuing to work hard every day in a bid to return to full first-team training before a tentative comeback later this month or in November.

"Andre Ayew is continuing his rehab from the thigh injury he suffered in the opening Premier League fixture at Chelsea in August," Stijn Vandenbroucke, the club's Head of Medical and Sports Science, told whufc.com.

"He is entering the stage, a mini pre-season, where he needs to get significant fitness work under his belt in order to cope with the demands of the Premier League and adapt to the new biomechanics following a significant injury, basically hard work day after day."
