£20k fines Aston Villa and Tottenham for on-field fracas

Aston Villa and Tottenham have both been fined by the Football Association for an on-pitch melee which occurred last month.

The Villa Park clash saw players from both sides involved in a fracas during the 2-1 win to Spurs which saw Christian Benteke sent off for shoving Ryan Mason in the face.

The actions of the Villa striker prompted a skirmish between the two sides who have since been charged and sanctioned for their involvement.

An FA statement read: "Both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have been fined £20,000 after the clubs admitted a breach of FA Rules in relation to their fixture on 2 November 2014.

"The charge was that the clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in or around the 66th minute of the match.

"Both clubs accepted the standard penalty fine of £20,000."
