Arsenal's Campbell open to Celtic move

Sol Campbell will consider a summer move to Celtic if he fails to agree a new contract with Arsenal.

Sol Campbell will consider a summer move to Celtic if he fails to agree a new contract with Arsenal.

The former England defender has been offered a one-year deal to remain with the Gunners, but has yet to finalise the terms of any fresh agreement with boss Arsene Wenger.

The Hoops have apparently approached Campbell's agent as they prepare for a Champions League qualifying match in July.

Media reports suggest Celtic's caretaker manager Neil Lennon has recommended the signing of Campbell as he tries to flavour his squad with more leaders.

"I worked very hard to get back to my best and to play in the Champions League again, and I would love the opportunity to continue at Arsenal,'' Campbell told ESPN.

"Although a one-year contract has been offered, these things take some time to thrash out. I imagine Arsene has quite a lot to deal with at the moment, particularly with (Cesc) Fabregas.

"I am in no rush, I would like to stay with Arsenal if I could, however, Celtic are a massive club, a great club, with massive support."
