Arsenal target Martins insists he's committed to Newcastle
Obafemi Martins insists he's committed to Newcastle United.
The £10m Nigeria striker, 24, has been linked with a summer move to long-term admirer Arsene Wenger at Arsenal if Alan Shearer fails to keep relegation-threatened Toon out of the Championship, says the Daily Star.
Martins dismissed speculation over his future to insist he is fully focused on keeping Newcastle up.
"It would mean everything to me, " he said. "I don't want to be relegated and I don't want this club to be relegated either.
"I love the fans here. They're the best and that's why we must fight to stay in the Premier League."
Victory at Villa Park will clinch safety if North East rivals Sunderland fail to beat Chelsea.
Eight-goal Martins added: "We have to win. We must stay together and help each other to stay up."
