Arsenal scout admits Nice striker Loic Remy on radar

Arsenal refuse to meet Nice's £13 million asking price for Loic Remy.

The Daily Mail says Arsene Wenger targeted the imposing forward to step in for Robin van Persie, who is unlikely to play again this season after damaging ankle ligaments.

Former Gunners defender Gilles Grimandi has scouted Remy in depth, delivering glowing reports to Wenger.

But the Emirates' boss has been rebuffed in an attempt to initially sign him on a short-term deal and told to stump up the cash.

Grimandi revealed this week: "We know the potential of Remy. He has a physical standard that is outside the usual.

"He has one of the greatest potentials in France and perhaps even in Europe over the next five years.

"But we are looking for a player who will enhance our strength very quickly because we lack this."
