Arsenal go for AC Milan striker Huntelaar
Arsenal are reviving their bid for AC Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The Daily Star says the Gunners are weighing up the prospect of bringing Huntelaar to the Emirates until the end of the season as a stand-in for the injured Robin van Persie. But the player’s reported £65,000-a-week wage demands are proving to be the major stumbling block to the swoop.
The Gunners will only make a move for Huntelaar if they can strike a suitable financial package. Wenger faces stiff competition from London rivals Tottenham.
Harry Redknapp is also keen on taking the Dutchman to White Hart Lane after pulling out of the race for Ruud van Nistelrooy. But the Spurs boss must offload one of his four strikers to free up funds before moving for Huntelaar, whose wage demands will also prove a struggle for Redknapp.
