Arsenal fullback Sagna offers no excuses for France World Cup meltdown
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Sun, 08/08/2010 - 08:19
Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna says there are no excuses for France's World Cup meltdown.
A penitent Sagna is ashamed by the team’s decision to go on strike before the final group game against South Africa in protest at Nicolas Anelka’s expulsion from the squad.
“We acted like stupid guys,” he told the Sunday Mirror. “We acted together as a team and we made a mistake.
“I have always dreamed of playing in a World Cup. But I never expected a massive competition to be like this. I was a bit lost.
“But I have had many problems in my life. As a human I’m talking now, not as a football player. I have been a bit down.”
