Arsenal boss Wenger: Spurs fans barracking Campbell part of game
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Wed, 04/14/2010 - 08:17
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says the expected abuse directed by Tottenham fans at Sol Campbell is part of the game in England.
Wenger hopes Campbell is not subject to abuse, he accepts that such friction is part and parcel of the English game.
"That's the culture of England," Wenger told arsenal.com.
"It was not only Sol. You had cases before, for example a goalkeeper who played for Arsenal and Tottenham. Pat Jennings played for the two teams and maybe Jennings is more Tottenham than Arsenal in memories.
"[With Campbell] I don't know, he has grown up there. The bitterness has not come from now, it has come from the fact he left them on a free for Arsenal."
