Manchester City will take more comfort from the point they gained at the Emirates Stadium than Arsenal, whose mathematical chance of winning the Premier League title ended.

City moved to within one point of fourth placed Tottenham in a lacklustre game of few chances.

Gunners midfielder Samir Nasri's did force Shay Given into a routine save and Robin Van Persie went close late on with his free-kick.

The one worrying aspect for visitor’s was an injury to Given which looks like sidelining the Republic of Ireland international for the rest of the season.

For returning former Gunners Patrick Vieira and Kolo Toure there was a warm reception from the home fans, but these turned to boos when substitute Emmanuel Adebayor came off the bench.

Given had to be replaced by Faroe Islands stopper Gunnar Neilson but he was put under little pressure from Arsenal as City comfortably held out for a point.
