Central Coast Mariners coach Graham Arnold expects Argentine import Patricio Perez to make his A-League debut this weekend.

The 25-year old attacking midfielder sat out last week’s season opening win over Melbourne Heart because of a hamstring strain but Arnold says he is a chance for Sunday’s clash with Adelaide United at the Mariners’ Bluetongue Stadium.

“If last week was a big game and it wasn’t the start of the season we could have pushed him to play,” Arnold told the Express Advocate. “But I wasn’t prepared to risk it.

“It’s a long season, we’ve got 29 games to go so I didn’t want to play him and then lose him for several weeks. I’m working towards him being available for Sunday.”
