Adelaide youngster Leckie tipped for big things
Adelaide United teenager Mathew Leckie is being tipped for big things.
The 18-year old came off the bench and produced a piece of magic in the Reds 2-0 win over North Queensland Fury on Sunday.
Leckie took the ball in midfield before taking on allcomers and slotting calmly in the 91st minute to wrap up the points for Adelaide.
And it seems Reds coach Aurelio Vidmar has unearthed the game-breaker he has been searching for.
“We thought we would throw Mathew on. He has a bit of pace and certainly knows where the goals are," said Vidmar.
"As you saw with that goal, he took it very, very well.
"We think this kid is something special and well done to him," added Vidmar.
"Hopefully, he can continue that decent form."
Leckia said he is loving his time with Adelaide after crossing from Victorian State League club Bulleen Lions.
"I just wanted to help the boys and add some energy," second-game revelation Leckie said.
"The guys have been so good to me since I came over four weeks ago and made me feel at home."
