Football Federation Australia will today announce the sale of A-League club Adelaide United, believed to be to a consortium of local businessmen.

Sources suggests that the Reds will no longer be run by FFA who have done a brilliant job since taking over when Nick Bianco pulled out a couple of years ago.

The Federation has allowed Adelaide to retain their own management and staff and it has paid dividends with the club rising from the bottom of the table last season to be in a strong on-field position in 2010/11.

It is a major coup for the FFA to have achieved this sale and it is a positive for the A-League and football in Australia to have one of the clubs run by the Federation to go under new ownership.

The next step now is for the North Queensland Fury situation to be sorted out and then all 11 clubs will basically be running themselves as Australia’s domestic league continues to strengthen on the pitch but has faltered slightly off it in recent times.
