Adelaide United’s Coolen delighted with strong performance
The league leaders managed to maintain their undefeated record and go six points clear at the top of the table and their most recent showing pleased Coolen who thought his side were the better of the two teams.
“I think we played a good game, we controlled the game for a lot of moments, we created a lot of chances for an away game and we didn’t give much away, so I think the result was fair and for us it was a good result,” Coolen said.
“It is a big bonus for our team that we made a decision on how we wanted to play and we talked about it and trained for it. We lost some key players from our system as well so we did well for 90 minutes and were happy with that.
“We were strong today, much stronger than our last game. We didn’t win but we didn’t lose, that’s a real positive, especially for an away game.”
The draw was even more special as the Reds were without key midfield duo Marcos Flores and Mathew Leckie who Coolen expects to have back very shortly.
“They (Leckie and Flores) are key players in our system and we’ll see how it goes and if they are both fit,” Coolen added.
“Leckie plays tonight (last night in the U19 AFC final) and I hope they will win the Final, and with Flores we’ll see how he goes in a couple of days, so we have a few days to prepare for the next game and hopefully they will be there.”
