Adelaide United nonplussed by winless record against Victory

Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic says the club is not thinking about their nine-match losing streak against the Melbourne Victory.

Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic says the club is not thinking about their nine-match losing streak against the Melbourne Victory.

The league leading Reds are away at Etihad Stadium tomorrow night for the Week 12 fixture with their arch enemies and Galekovic is adamant that they are simply looking to get a positive result to continue their brilliant start to the season.

“It’s not about getting over the record, it’s about getting another three points,” Galekovic said.

“There’s a few new boys in the team and they haven’t experienced it, so we’re just going out there to get the three points. We’re on top of the ladder, they’re the team that probably needs the three points more than us, so we’ll just be going out there to win the game.”

Galekovic knows that the Victory play well at Etihad but is confident the Reds are in good enough form to over come that.

“They’re a good team, always at home…so it’s always hard to play in Melbourne. Obviously they lost last week so they’re going to be dangerous this week,” Galekovic added.

They can be as cocky as they want. We’re the ones on top of the ladder, they’re the ones struggling so it’s going to be up to them to get the three points and the pressure is on them.”
