Adelaide United heading into an exciting new era
A-League club Adelaide United are heading into an exciting new era after the takeover by a consortium of local businessmen.
The Reds have been sold to a highly respected local group lead by Robert Gerard which also includes Dr Richard Noble, Bruno Marveggio and newly-appointed Chairman Greg Griffin and things are on the up for the South Australian club.
Griffin says it is important for a club of the stature of Adelaide United to push further into the community and become a viable and attractive franchise.
“Essentially it’s imperative as the new consortium sees it, for us to embrace the South Australian community and the public, and that means that we have to, as a group, reach out to the public and give them some facilities, membership ideas and if we are to take this club further, we need to start working with the grass roots,” Griffin said.
“We need to start having very solid and useful relationships with all of the clubs in this state, and the first thing we’ll be doing is engaging all of our members, the clubs that feed us, and all of the junior kids out there that want to be players.
“It is very important to us that this club has a viable and solid foundation. We are going to attract the best people we can possibly get to ensure the ongoing success of this club.”
