Adelaide United will go worldwide in their pursuit of a new coach to replace Aurelio Vidmar who has taken up the role as head coach of the Australian Olympic team and assistants role with the Socceroos.

Reds CEO Sam Ciccarello confirmed the A-League club have commenced their search and will not be limited by the boundaries of Australia.

“We have commenced our search for a new coach it will be a worldwide search and we expecting significant interest in the position,” Ciccarello said.

"In the interim Phil Stubbins has been appointed as head coach, and he will take over the reins upon his return from holidays."
