Adelaide United doctor James Ilic has allayed serious fears of a swine flu epidemic at the club.

Two Reds players, Lloyd Owusu and Robert Cornthwaite have been diagnosed with the flu but Ilic says there is no reason to be worried ahead of this weekend’s trip to Tasmania.

"The health department doesn't recommend them (surgical masks) so there's really no need to wear them," he said.

"The main thing on a flight - which is difficult - is to avoid someone who is coughing and if you can change seats do so."

Ilic said the two players were on the verge of returning to training.

"Robbie (Cornthwaite) I'm expecting him back (today)," Dr Ilic said.

"Lloyd's the one, he's probably another week away from training."
