Adelaide United captain Dodd happy to play in the snow

Adelaide United skipper Travis Dodd says he is happy to play in the Chinese snow rather than in Australia’s heat.

The attacking midfielder is with the Reds in Jinan preparing for tomorrow night’s Asian Champions League clash with Shandong Luneng and the weather has been forecast for snow which would be a completely different scenario to what the players are used to.

But Dodd remained calm about the prospect of cold weather and also said that Adelaide were set to do some study on their opponents as they strive to back up their matchday 1 win over reigning Asian champions Pohang Steelers.

“It’s going to be a bit of a change for us…we’ve been told it could be snowing on Monday and playing in zero degrees (on Wednesday) so it’s going to be tough, but I’d rather be playing in that than in the heat,” Dodd told Adelaide United’s official website.

“We haven’t seen a lot of them yet. We’re going to be doing video sessions once we’re over there but I’m sure the coaches have started to pick apart their game and look for the plays and the players that we need to watch out for.

“I would imagine their fans would be expecting them to win being at home so we need to frustrate them as much as we can and hopefully turn that against them.”
