Financially troubled A-League club Adelaide United have hired the services of a top South Australian lawyer to assist in getting the club back on its feet.

The club is close to being taken over by Football Federation Australia but are keen to intervene and remain as they were, with investors controlling the club.

Greg Griffin of Griffin Hilditch has been hired to assist current owner Nick Bianco to attract more investors and believes the job can be done successfully.

"Adelaide is a key, strong and solid-profile club," Griffin said.

"The product is very good but it will probably be resolved by next month if more people (investors) do come in."

A-League chief Archie Fraser is reportedly in Adelaide early this week to help with an outcome which may see Bianco joined by a consortium of corporate backers in controlling the club.
