Adelaide United’s Fyfe notches 100 A-League games

Adelaide United defender Iain Fyfe will this weekend make his 100th A-League appearance.

Adelaide United defender Iain Fyfe will this weekend make his 100th A-League appearance.

The 27-year old will mark the accomplishment when he runs out for the Reds against reigning champions Melbourne Victory on Saturday at Etihad Stadium and is proud of his achievement.

“It’s great to get 100 games under your belt, especially in the Hyundai A-League, being the highest level in Australia, so I’m pretty proud,” Fyfe said.

Fyfe played 88 matches with former club Sydney FC and his 12th match with Adelaide will make it an even 100 – 96 of those he has started highlighting his durability in the A-League.

“There is no real secret,” Fyfe added.

“I suppose it’s just being professional and looking after yourself, doing the right things and having a little bit of luck as well.”

Fyfe made his A-League debut against the same opponents in the 2005/06 season and is looking forward to the challenge.

“Obviously there’s a rivalry. I’ve only experienced the Adelaide and Melbourne rivalry once and they got the better of us that day, but I’m used to going down to Melbourne for big games when I was playing with Sydney so I know what it’s all about, and they’re probably some of the most enjoyable games playing against Melbourne because of that rivalry,” Fyfe said.
