Adelaide no.2 Stubbins going nowhere
Adelaide United assistant coach Phil Stubbins will not be leaving the club despite reports suggesting otherwise.
Rumours have surfaced suggesting Stubbins will be replacing Ian Ferguson as head coach of North Queensland Fury but the Reds have denied those claims.
“It's categorically not true. Stubbins hasn't heard anything about the job," a United spokesman said last night.
Ferguson’s job at Fury has come under question since he had a dispute with marquee player Robbie Fowler and although his position will come under review at the end of the season, Fury chairman Don Matheson said he would stay in the position.
“I'm very transparent with the guy (Ferguson)," Matheson said.
"Never have we intimated that Fergie's job was going to be up for grabs over this (Fowler incident)."
Stubbins was on the short-list of potential coaches last year when the Fury were searching but the job eventually went to Ferguson.
