Adelaide up and about ahead of Melbourne clash

Adelaide United have found some form just in time for an important clash with arch rivals Melbourne Victory.

The Reds managed a 1-0 home win over the Central Coast Mariners on Friday night and coach Aurelio Vidmar is hoping that form can run into the Victory clash at Hindmarsh Stadium this Friday.

"It was important that we won. Three points are really important for us in terms of the position on the ladder. We need a good run of wins now - two or three on the trot would be great," Vidmar said.

Vidmar also commented on the fact that the biggest thorn in Adelaide’s side, Melbourne captain Kevin Muscat, makes a return from a four-week layoff.

"Muscy is back. He's typically out for three or four weeks then comes back to play Adelaide. It will be a hard game for us - they are a very good footballing side," noted Vidmar.

"Every week there is always something you need to contend with."

Adelaide United host Melbourne Victory this Friday night, September 18 at Hindmarsh Stadium with kick-off at 7:30pm local time (8:00pm AEST).
