Adelaide’s Vidmar: We are at our lowest point

Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar says the current situation with where the club is sitting on the league table is the lowest point in the club’s history.

The Reds went down 2-0 to their arch enemies Melbourne Victory on Saturday which was their ninth straight loss against the 2008/09 champions, forcing them to the bottom of the table, three points off ninth place.

Vidmar said the Melbourne hoodoo was embarrassing and admitted that his players were performing poorly at present.

“It's everyone's lowest point. It's the club's lowest point. It's embarrassing," Vidmar said.

"As winning is a habit, so is losing. It's an extremely poor one. We're gutted, because it's poor. Nine losses against Melbourne is unacceptable and shouldn't happen."

Despite the loss however, Vidmar said at least he felt his side could get something from the match even when they found themselves a goal down after just 23 seconds.

"I thought we did enough to get something out of the game. It was the first 30 seconds and the last 30 seconds that killed us," Vidmar added.

"(Melbourne) have the kick-off, we lose possession and then within 30 seconds we're a goal down.

"Even at 1-0 down we had some very good opportunities to at least get back to level pegging. But we just can't find the back of the net. We probably couldn't hit a barn door from five yards."
