Adelaide’s Dodd ready to return for Melbourne Victory

Adelaide United captain Travis Dodd will be ready for this weekend’s Grand Final rematch against Melbourne Victory.

Adelaide United captain Travis Dodd will be ready for this weekend’s Grand Final rematch against Melbourne Victory.

Dodd has been dogged by a calf injury in recent weeks and was forced to miss the dramatic win over Sydney FC on Friday night but is confident he will get up to face fierce rivals the Victory.

“I had the fitness test yesterday and got through it ok, and had another session today and feel good…I’m 100 per cent and ready for selection,” Dodd said last night.

“It was a good session. We worked on a few things, everybody was concentrated and it was an intense session, so hopefully we’ll take that through the week and into Saturday’s game.”
Having Dodd back for the clash is a major plus for the Reds, who have dropped their past seven matches against Melbourne.

“We need everyone to be leaders on Saturday night and if I can be part of it that’s great, but we need to get the win as well, three points is very important for us, especially to break this losing streak we’ve got against Melbourne,” Dodd added.

“All people talk about is seven games on the trot that we haven’t won, so everybody is expecting Melbourne to win again, so there’s no pressure on us, we will go over there and play our own game and hopefully come away with the points.

“I think (the pressure is on) Melbourne because everybody is expecting us to go over there and lose again.”

Dodd will lead Adelaide out against the Victory this Saturday evening at Etihad Stadium in Round 12 of A-League action.
