AC St Louis goalkeeper Alec Duffy has joined Chicago Fire for the rest of the 2010 MLS season.

The 23-year old gloveman will join on loan as cover for the injured Sean Johnson with the move gaining the blessing of St Louis coach Dale Schilly.

"Every opportunity that Alec Dufty receives is earned," Schilly said. "He single-handedly won games for us early in the year and he continued to help us gain points as the year progressed. I'm sure he will make the most of the opportunity, because Alec has a great commitment and work ethic in training."

The former New York Red Bulls man played in every minute of all 33 St Louis matches this season, keeping seven clean sheets.
