AC Milan's night went from bad to worse after their 4-0 humiliation by Inter.

Milan midfielder Rino Gattuso, plagued by injury problems last season, sprained his ankle before being sent-off last night.

He was taken to hospital for tests and x-rays, as there were fears Gattuso had sustained a fracture or damaged the tendon in his left ankle.

The results came back negative, but there is a sprain and it will keep the World Cup winner out of action for a couple of weeks.
