Roma coach Luciano Spalletti demands consistency after Palermo win

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is demanding consistency from his players after their 4-1 rout of Palermo.

Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Shaarawy were both on the scoresheet.

“It's a good victory, we took this opportunity to cut the gap at the top," Spalletti told Mediaset Premium.

“We moved the ball around a bit too slowly and that needs to improve. It was fundamental to get some consistency in our results, but every now and then I see too much tension and the players feel that pressure to do well. If you misplace one pass, there will be another along straight away, don't worry.

“When one player scores 23 goals, that's not good, but when they are spread out among many players it shows the strength of the collective.

“The players knew they had to give more at the start of the season. Because the players realise it is necessary to win and get results, they feel the pressure. It's not the ideal place for young players to grow.

“It's because Roma haven't won a trophy for a while that this pressure is present and you especially feel it at the Olimpico.

Emerson Palmieri is a talented player and we've tried him in a few different roles. We're still trying to find his best fit, but he did very well in the second half."
