Man Utd captain Fernandes: The club needs to want me

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag cut Bruno Fernandes' Sky Sports interview short last night.

The Portuguese was speaking to the television station after their 3-2 win over Newcastle United.

Fernandes was asked about his future at the club, which has been discussed in the British papers in recent days.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "I will be [at United next term]. The club needs to want me. The club wants me to be a part of the future.

“As I said always, I don't want to be a player that the club doesn't want to have. If for some reason, they don't want to have me, I will go. But if they want me, I will stay."

He was then dragged away by manager Ten Hag, as the Dutchman was getting ready to address the crowd from the centre circle of Old Trafford.
